Sleep in a Room, Dream in a Landscape, which describes a journey of a dream – beginning in a restful room, an enclosed space; sleeping brings the dream of travelling through a vast abstract landscape, which is used as a metaphor for freedom. A rhythm emerges from the passing hills, and the dream ends in a morning cloud scene before waking up in the bedroom. A night’s sleep is condensed into five minutes. It is a meditative, atmospheric piece in which environmental sounds combine with visuals of an abstracted landscape to create an emotional narrative.
Melissa Doran is an audiovisual artist who explores themes regarding everyday living and how our physical surroundings impact upon on our psyche.
