Iranian born Alysse Stepanian moved to the US after the Revolution of 1979. This video is based on her early dream journal. “Roghieh” paints a surreal picture of the early stages of the Iranian Revolution, when it empowered the underprivileged, who had a significant role in the overthrow of an elitist regime. This video is part of a series of shorts from “I’m Frustrated About Having to Wear My Father’s Large Clothes.”
Alysse Stepanian is a multimedia and video artist. She has collaborated with Philip Mantione on videos and installations under the name BOX 1035. The 2010 screenings of her videos include Orebro International Videoart Festival in Sweden (October); Fonlad 2010 Festival in Portugal; Teatro Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Arte Cubano in Havana, Cuba; \"SHE_STORY\" in Zadar, Croatia; OUTcasting Season 12 based in Cardiff, UK; CeC 2010 from the selections of CologneOFF V based in Germany. 2009 shows include HZ-Journal; Kunstfilmtag 09 in Düsseldorf, Germany; YOVEO International Video Festival in New York City. Stepanian is the curator of Manipulated Image video screenings in Santa Fe, USA.
