About
The National Academy of Art in Sofia organizes DA FEST - international digital arts festival, which aims to present diverse trends and practices in the fields of digital film&video, sound art, net art, robotics, multimedia performances, installations and other interdisciplinary forms.
The festival programme consists of performances, film screenings, workshops, lectures, and exhibition. In the festival framework artists from all over the world present latest practices, research and technologies and showcase important achievements in the development of digital arts.
More than 30 artists, musicians and academics from nine countries took part in the first festival in October 2009. The festival program included seven performances, five presentations, three workshops, an exhibition with 13 art works, and a screening program that presented 17 films, all of which attracted great audience interest. More about the first festival edition you can see at: http://2009.da-fest.bg/bg/international_digital_art_festival___sofia
The success of the first encourages the organizers to continue this initiative and currently we are working on programme for the 2010 festival. Highlights of the programme of DA Fest 2010 include four workshops, led by renown international experts, eight audio-visual and multimedia performances, lectures and presentations, film screenings of works selected through an open call, and an exhibition, as well as open-air DJ/VJ parties in the inner yard of the art academy.
The idea is to make the festival not an isolate cultural event on the Sofia map but to unite various social spheres, like culture, arts and education. Our ambition is to turn the DA Fest into a centre of the young people's life in Sofia. In this event the youths have the possibility not only to participate in the workshops, the film programme and performances, but also to be part of the organisations like volunteers. In this way we aim to bring together emerging artists sharing common ideas and energy, and to introduce them in a comprehensive but professional way with the newest trends in the field of digital and electronic arts.
