Carina Nyberg (SE) Together: Valla Square, 1:40
Film & video programme „Measurements of time“
14/09/2010,Tuesday, 17:00 - 18:00, Studio 7, Art Academy
The film starts with a view of a typical Swedish suburb square. It is evening and the square is empty of both people and cars. The trees are slowly swaying in the wind. Suddenly the light in the flats are switched off and then a sound of simple tones begin playing. The lights in the flats starts to blink in the same rhythm as the sound. The film scene is a copy of the actual square, "Valla torg", outside of Stockholm.
Carina Nyberg, born 1971, is a Swedish artist living in Stockholm. In her art she mainly works with sculpture and computer animations. The computer animations usually have their origin in existing places. By working with the scene in the computer it is possible to build up and control an atmosphere and to add an unexpected event, but still keeping it recognisable to people who knows the place. Both sculptures and animations has been showed at different exhibitions around Sweden and abroad. She has a MFA from University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm.
