Jorge Garcia (Spain) The Beast, 5:20
Film & video programme „Tales“
13/09/2010, Monday, 17:00 - 18:00, Studio 7, Art Academy
Sometimes with human features, others with mechanical ones, the beast is a shapeless creature of the depth, that sleeps in the subsoil of Paris and threatens to destroy the city. At the same time, the video is the portrait of a dull and dehumanized city, full of ominous signs, very far from the typical image of Paris represented in XIX century postcards.
Jorge Garcia is trained in Madrid Film School (ECAM), Jorge García Velayos starts in video with ‘Ether’ (2003), an animation shortfilm made with elements of nature as leaves and branchs. In 2006 moves to Rome thanks to the Visual Arts Grant of the Spanish Academy of Rome (Italy) and starts the Zoo Urban Project, a project who tries to identify different cities with an animal. This video project has been showed in several cinema festivals and included in collective exhibitions around the world: the Biennial International Exhibition of Bolivia, Cinemad (Spain), Magmart (Italy) and Fonlad (Portugal).
